Iowa State tennis defeats Bethune-Cookman and Embry-Riddle


Sophomore Erin Freeman played for Iowa State Tennis on April 23. Freeman went 2-6 against Vladica Babic of OSU. Cyclones fell 0-4 against Oklahoma.

This afternoon was a very busy day for the Iowa State women’s tennis team as they had to play two Florida teams today. The first match was against the Bethune-Cookman wildcats at 9 a.m. and another match was at 2 p.m. against the Embry-Riddle Eagles.


The Cyclones win 4-0 against the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats in Daytona Beach, Florida.


No. 1: Maty Cancini defeated Matea Roki (BCUW), 6-3, 6-3.

No. 2: Regina Espindola was defeated by Rehanna Butt (BCUW) 2-6, 6-2, 0-2 (unfinished).

No. 3: Ekaterina Repina was defeated by Alejandra Vidal (BCUW) 5-7, 1-3 (unfinished). 

No. 4: Annabella Bonadonna defeated Karen Romero (BCUW) 6-1, 6-3.

No. 5: Karen Alvarez was defeated by Phatismo Ruele (BCUW) 4-6, 1-4 (unfinished).

No. 6: Liera Bender won by forfeit. 


No. 1: Cancini/Espindola defeated Roki/Butt (BCUW) 6-3.

No. 2: Freeman/Bonadonna defeated Vidal/Romero (BCUW) 6-4.

No. 3: Repina/Timakova won the match due to forfeit. 


Later in the afternoon the Cyclones traveled to Embry-Riddle to face the Eagles and went unbeaten in doubles matches. The Cyclones defeated the Eagles 4-3.


No. 1: Cancini defeated Maria Turillo (ER) 6-4, 6-1.

No. 2: Espindola was defeated by Roberta Krvajica (ER) 7-5, 6-3.

No. 3: Repina defeated Georgina Wood (ER) 6-4, 6-2.

No. 4: Freeman was defeated by Sabrina Ehrenfort (ER) 7-6, 2-1 (WBD).

No. 5: Bonadonna defeated Kathryn Bock (ER) 6-1, 6-0.

No. 6: Bender was defeated by Lydia Carter (ER) 6-3, Ret.


No. 1: Cancini/Espindola defeated Krvajica/Wood (ER) 6-4.

No. 2: Repina/Timakova defeated Turillo/Bock 7-5.

No. 3: Freeman/Bonadonna  defeated Carter/Ehrenfort 6-0.
