Men’s golf team falls on first day of Marquette Intercollegiate

The Iowa State men’s golf team fell to 14th place on the first day of competition in the Marquette Intercollegiate.

The Cyclones scored the second highest score of the day with a 310. The score is 22 over the par, and two lower than last place Northern Illinois (312). 

South Florida is currently in first place, shooting even par for a 288. Two strokes behind is Marquette (290) and in third place is Texas-El Paso (291). 

Austin Kendziorski of Marquette is currently in first place on the player board after posting a 67.

Freshman Lachlan Barker was the highest placing Cyclone, tying for 14th out of 87 competing players. Barker fired a 73, scoring three birdies and four bogeys. 

The next Cyclone was sophomore Tripp Kinney, tying for 52nd. He had three birdies, but shot two bogeys and went four over on a par-five hole to increase his score to a 77.

Redshirt senior Denzel Ieremia tied for 63rd overall, posting a 79. He fired two birdies, but went over par four times.

Freshman Danny Daniels ended tied for 78th place, scoring a 81. Daniels went nine over the par and had seven bogeys. Two of which were a double bogey or more.

Frank Lindwall ended in 82nd overall, he had eight bogeys and scored an 82. 

The second day of competition will continue Monday.
