Cyclone’s Men’s Golf Team tied for sixth in Badger Invitional.

The Iowa State men’s golf team ended their three-day competition in the Badger Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin tying for sixth place.

The Cyclones scored a total of 862 (293-281-288) and tied with Nevada (862, 285-289-288).

Texas A&M won the overall competition out of the 15 teams by scoring an 839 (276-284-279), trailing behind them was Kansas 845 (288-280-277). Marquette finished in third place, shooting an 847 (289-277-281).

The Cyclones came into the 2017-18 golf season with only three starters from last year’s roster after losing Ruben Sondjaja and Nick Voke to graduation.

With a very young team now, coach Andrew Tank leads a roster with only one upper-classman in redshirt senior Denzel Ieremia.

Ieremia ended the competition tied for 10th after a three-day total of 212 (73-68-71). This was his seventh career top-10 showing, and his 11th career sub-70 card in the second round.

True freshman Lachlan Barker tied for 15th, posting a 214 (72-70-72). He had 11 birdies overall in his college debut.

Sophomore Tripp Kinney tied for 25th spot after scoring a 216 (72-73-71). He finished the invitational with a one-under par in the third round with a 71.

True freshman Frank Lindwall placed 74th overall, scoring a 228 (84-70-74).

Sophomore Sam Vicent tied for 77th, posting a 230 (76-78-76).

Freshmen Danny Daniels and Ricky Costello competed as individuals, unattached from the Iowa State team. 

Daniels tied for 54th spot after scoring a 224 (80-72-72); while Costello tied for 66th, posting a 226 (77-73-76).

Conner Koberg, a junior, scored a 239 (81-83-75), which put him in the 98th place.

The Cyclones will be back in action Sunday, Sept. 24 at the Northern Intercollegiate in Sugar Gove, Ill.
