Ames based bike sharing company announces first sale in city of Clinton

Jill O'Brien

announced it has signed a contract with the Clinton Convention and Visitors Bureau in Clinton, Iowa. The city plans to have the bike share system installed by August.

The bike sharing system, which allows people to checkout bikes and drop them off at docking stations when they are finished, will be available for use on the Clinton Discovery Trail and the downtown area.

For example, if you were to come in at the marina and park your boat, you could hop on a bike and ride the entire Discovery Trail that goes from the south end of Clinton to the north end,” said Mary Seeley, Director of Clinton Convention and Visitors Bureau. Shelley described Cygnet as “the perfect solution to meet the community’s needs” in a release.

In addition to easy access and use within the community, companies can also use Cygnet bikes to their advantage, customizing them to their own marketing needs, or placing advertisements to help promote local businesses and offset costs.

“Sponsorship opportunities are just another avenue for businesses to get their name out there too, and show support for the community,” Seely said. “The bike-share system is a new technology for this small community, but we are all rallying around it. It’s fantastic. It’s a safe, fun and exciting new offering for Clinton,” Seely said.
