From tai chi to learning how to teach a class, the Workspace has something for everyone. Here’s what they’ve got going during the month of June. 

Tai Chi 

Saturdays starting June 3rd, 10-11:15 A.M. 

16+

$45 for ISU/$55 for public 

In this class, you will learn and practice the movements of tai chi, which improve balance, posture, flexibility, confidence and attitude, as well as improving overall well-being and rejuvenating the spirit. 

Teaching Art: How to Craft a Class

June 6th, 6-8 P.M. at the Octagon Center for the Arts 

Free

For those who have ever wanted to teach an art class but didn’t know where to start, this class is for you! Learn about the process from educational directors from Reiman Gardens, the Octagon and the Workspace on registration, finding and paying instructors, supplies and general expectations, as well as designing classes and teaching in an informal setting. 

Belly Dance Class

Wednesdays starting June 7th, 5:45-7 P.M. 

$35 for ISU/$45 for public 

Learn some basic belly dance choreography in this class for all levels and ages. Learn about musicality, transitions and stage presence, as well as exercise, improve posture and learn about the art of belly dancing. 

Paint Your Own Pottery: Father’s Day Gifts 

June 9th, 4-8 P.M. 

$4 studio fee for ISU/$5 for public 

Paint something nice for Dad this Father’s Day. This event is open to all ages if accompanied by an adult. 

Intermediate Glass Beads

June 10th, 12:30-3:30 P.M. 

$23 for ISU/$33 for public

Learn new patterns and practice new skills, like distortion and dragging in this class. 

Screen Printing Class

Mondays beginning June 12th, 6-9 P.M. 

$62 for ISU/$72 for public 

18+ 

Learn to make a screen using the photographic emulsion technique, an inexpensive way to make a custom t-shirt. 

Embroidery Workshop: Adult Merit Badges 

June 15th, 6-9 P.M. 

$25 for ISU/$35 for public 

16+

Being an adult is hard- celebrate your achievements with patches. Learn basic embroidery stitches, and leave with both patches of your own and the ability to keep stitching on your own time. 

Paint Your Own Pottery: Gnome Gnight

June 16th, 4-8 P.M. 

$4 for ISU/$5 for public plus cost of bisque 

Paint garden gnomes of all shapes and sizes! Learn the basics of painting pottery and leave with your own piece within a week.
