Here are the top 5 stories from the past week:

1. ISU Police Facebook account hacked– The Iowa State Police Department lost access to its Facebook account on Saturday morning. The account was hacked, the cover photo was changed to a Syrian flag and there were a few other posts made by the hacker that were displayed in a different language. As of Sunday, the Iowa State Police Department’s page was no longer visible on Facebook.

2. Leopold Center stays open in 30th year but loses funding– Branstad used line-item vetoes to preserve the existence of the Leopold Center, but the governor’s action did not preserve the funding for the center that the Republican bill took it away. The bill states that the center should not initiate any new activity until July 1, 2017. 

3. Men involved in Campustown shooting found guilty– All four men who were suspects in the Campustown shooting in February were found guilty. Three of the four men pled guilty of lesser charges before their trial date and the fourth man was found guilty before a judge. 

4. City Council to discuss parking, fireworks– Evaluation of Campustown and downtown parking will begin during this week’s council meeting. They will review the impact of parking around the areas following interest of redevelopment in the area. There will be discussion of the use of fireworks in Ames after the recent state legalization. Ames’ municipal code prohibits the use of fireworks in city limits.

5. Iowa State softball loses three straight games in Big 12 Tournament– The Iowa State softball team lost three straight games this past weekend in the Big 12 Tournament. The last loss was the toughest as the team had multiple chances to win the game against Texas Tech. The first two games were bigger losses as they lost 10-0 to Oklahoma State and 4-0 to Baylor
