Somehow, someway, Iowa State pulled out another victory Sunday with a 3-2 win over Kansas.

Brianna Weilbacher started at pitcher for the Cyclones against Alexis Reid. Reid pitched all three games of the weekend series for the Jayhawks.

Kansas started the game strong, scoring two runs on a bases-loaded bloop single in the top of the first inning.

Iowa State’s offense struggled to put runs on the board. Through five innings, Iowa State’s only hit was a bunt single from Kaila Konz in the bottom of the first.

Neither team scored again until the bottom of the seventh inning. Logan Schaben drove in a run on a groundout and Kirsten Caudle tied the game at two runs apiece with a two-out triple.

Sami Williams drove in Caudle to win the game in the next at bat.

The win completes a sweep of Kansas with every game being decided by just one run.

The win is Iowa State’s fifth consecutive Big 12 victory. The Cyclones finish the regular season 23-32 with a 6-12 record in the Big 12.
