Many people have heard of IRHA or have seen the articles from the Iowa State Daily on IRHA, but don’t know who they are or what they do.

Here is a breakdown of who IRHA is and their duties on campus:

  • IRHA stands for the the Inter-Residence Hall Association and is located in Friley Hall.
  • According to the Iowa State University website, IRHA is a student led organization that represents all of the residence halls on campus.
  • The purpose of IRHA is to provide a safe environment, establish and sponsor memorable events and provide leadership opportunities for students living in the residence halls.
  • To become a member, the student must live in a residence hall. Membership elections take place in the spring every year.
  • Meetings take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays in the Campanile room in the Memorial Union.
  • Regular meetings consist of IRHA advocating for the interests of residence hall students to University administrators, Student Government and other groups outside of the community.
  • Not only do they advocate for residence hall students, they also implement a variety of activities and events for residence hall students. This includes Fall and Spring Residence Hall Weeks.

One of the most recent issues IRHA has discussed is the concern of vandalism in residence halls. You can check out the article here.
