KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI — Like the other two matchups this season, the Cyclones and the Cowboys were in for a battle.

And like the other two games, it took until late in the second half for the game to be decided.

No. 4 Iowa State (21-10, 13-6 Big 12) outlasted No. 5 Oklahoma State (20-12, 9-10 Big 12) 92-83 on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championship at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri, marking the Cyclones 10th straight victory over the Cowboys.

Iowa State started out the first half hot, going on a 13-2 run to give it an eight point lead early. They went 12-of-18 from the field, shooting 67 percent from the field at the peak of its run. With 6:33 left in the half, the Cyclones led by 12.

Oklahoma State stormed back, though, and the Cyclones cooled off. Iowa State made just two of its last 13 field goal attempts, and didn’t score in the final 2:36 of the half. Heading into the locker room, the Iowa State lead had been cut to just three points.

With less than 10 minutes to go in the second half, it was a one point game. Donovan Jackson, though, quickly hit back-to-back three-pointers to spark a 6-0 run. The Cyclones seamlessly pushed the lead to 10, and held off the Cowboys until the one minute mark.

Oklahoma State attempted a comeback push, but it was too late, giving Iowa State the nine-point win.

Morris led the Cyclones with 21 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. Deonte Burton added 16 points and nine rebounds.

Iowa State will advance to the semifinal round of the Big 12 Championship, and will take on the winner of the Kansas/TCU game on Friday at 6 p.m.
