The Iowa State softball team dropped their final game in this weekend’s tournament.

The Cyclones (8-11) ended their time in St George, Utah, with a final loss for the five games played. Iowa State went 1-4 in the tournament.

The team played Utah Valley (1-8) on Sunday to finish out the tournament. They lost 1-0 to the Wolverines.

The game remained scoreless until the top of the fifth inning, when Utah Valley scored. The Cyclones attempted to fight back, with Kristen Caudle hitting a triple in the third inning. Bases were loaded in the fifth inning by Cyclones, but in each event they were unable to score a run.

The defense, however, managed to break a school record of double plays in a single game, with four total against the Wolverines. Starting pitcher Brianna Weilbacher was able to pitch four innings without allowing a single run, and also strikeout six players.
