Ames man assaulted, threatened with gun; suspect in custody

A man was assaulted with a gun at 311 Lincoln Way Jan. 30.

A man reported being assaulted and threatened with a gun Monday afternoon at 311 Lincoln Way. Ames Police reported in a press release that the suspect was in custody.

The suspect was identified as Muhammad Younes, 21. Younes was in Story City when the Story County Deputy spotted his car shortly after the incident, which occurred at 1:03 p.m. Monday. 

The victim received minor injuries. The victim and Younes knew each other prior to the incident.

Younes faces charges of being armed with intent, assault while displaying a dangerous weapon and aggravated misdemeanor.

Ames Police Cmdr. Geoff Huff said Younes lives in Story City and was suspected to have been on his way home when spotted and taken into custody.

Huff said there is currently no threat to the community as all parties involved have been identified. The incident is still under investigation.
