Famed actor Jesse Eisenberg will headline ISU AfterDark’s January 27th event. The event will begin at 9 p.m. in the Memorial Union. Stand-up comedian Barry Rothbart will take the stage first with Eisenberg following at 11 p.m.

Jesse Eisenberg began acting at a very young age, which helped him cope with anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder. By 18 he was starring in his very first film, Roger Dodger.

His breakout role came in 2009 in the form of the lead role of the much beloved Zombieland

The next year Eisenberg became a household name with the release of The Social Network, which followed Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg during the inception and creation of Facebook. Eisenberg was nominated for both a Golden Globe and Academy Award in the best actor category.

Since then, Eisenberg has lead such franchises as Rio and Now You See Me and very recently appeared as super-villain Lex Luthor in the superhero blockbuster, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Within the next few years he is set to reprise his roles of Columbus and Lex Luthor in Zombieland 2 and Justice League, respectively.

However, Eisenberg does much more than just acting. He is a playwright who has written and acted in three of his own plays, including the 2016 play, The Spoils.

Eisenberg is also a proficient creative writing, having published his own collection of short stories titled, Bream Gives Me Hiccups: And Other Stories.
