The Ames MLK Day community celebration, dubbed “Equality, Justice and Unity: Ames Community MLK Day Celebration,” originally scheduled for Monday at 6 p.m., has been postponed to Monday, Jan, 23.

The postponement was due to dire conditions brought on by Winter Storm Jupiter. The postponed event, however, will still be hosted at Ames Middle School and start at 6 p.m.

“We encourage the community to join us in celebrating Dr. King’s legacy, and his work towards equality, justice and unity,” said Angela Merrick, executive director of YWCA Ames-ISU, a local organization involved in the event’s planning, in an email.
