Georges Niang has added another accolade to his collection.

The senior was announced as the winner of the 2016 Karl Malone Award on Friday night, the award presented annually to the nation’s top power forward by the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Niang was given the award at ESPN’s College Basketball Awards Show, held at Club Nokia in Los Angeles.

“It’s an honor to be given this award,” Niang said in a press release. “You grow up watching guys like Karl Malone and to take home an award that states my game emulates the way he played is pretty cool. I’m thankful for my coaches and teammates for making this all possible by pushing me and believing in me every day.”

Niang averaged 20.5 points and shot nearly 55 percent from the field last season, leading the Cyclones to a Sweet 16 appearance. He earned All-America honors last season, and was a unanimous All-Big 12 First-Team selection.

Niang is currently preparing for the NBA Draft.
