Northern Illinois graduate transfer Darrell Bowie committed to Iowa State on Thursday night, according to Evan Daniels of Scout.com

Bowie, a 6-foot-7, 200-pound forward, will be eligible to play immediately next season.

“I just loved the coaching staff and the situation that the coaches presented to me and my family, so it worked out great,” Bowie told Scout.com.

Bowie averaged 9.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game last season. The Milwaukee, Wis., native didn’t play this season due to a dislocated shoulder, and sat out with a medical redshirt.

Bowie plans to visit Ames next Sunday for his official visit, and to be with the team for Selection Sunday.

As for Bowie’s impact next season, he’s said he’s willing to do whatever it takes to contribute.

“I think everything will be the same style of play,” Bowie told the Ames Tribune. “I’m an up-and-down kind of player, so I like to get out and run.

“Whatever [Prohm] wants me to do, I’m just going to go out there and do it.”
