Senior forward Georges Niang made 28 points, six rebounds and 11 field-goals in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on March 17. Niang is a Wooden Award and Karl Malone Award Finalist. He is the only player nationally averaging 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and shooting 50 percent field goals and 80 percent at the line. Iowa State won 94-81 against Iona. They will play Arkansas-Little Rock in the second round on March 19.
