ISU softball won both matchups in its Friday afternoon doubleheaders against South Dakota and Idaho State.

Iowa State beat South Dakota 6-3 after scoring all six runs in the 1st two innings in the first game of the Friday doubleheader.

The scoring started when the  1st baseman connected for a double, bringing Brittany Gomez and Cathlin Bingham home to score. Nychole Antillon would bring home Hartman later in that same inning to make the score 3-0 in the first inning.

The Cyclones would add three more runs in the second inning, to increase the score to 6-0 after two innings. South Dakota would end up scoring three runs, one in the fourth and two in the fifth, to cut the Iowa State lead in half. But freshman pitcher Emma Hylen continued to make pitches and would be able to maintain the lead for her club.

In the second match up against Idaho State, Iowa State would score all four runs in the first three innings.

Idaho State would score runs in the in the third and seventh to cut the Iowa State lead in half, but the combination of starter Mandi Moore, reliever Brianna Weilbacher, and Emma Hylen to pick up her second save of the season was enough to maintain a Cyclone sweep.
