Georges Niang drives to the hoop against TCU on Saturday at Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones beat the Horned Frogs 92-83.

Iowa State got more than it likely bargained for from Texas Christian, despite the Horned Frogs being in the basement of the Big 12 standings, proving there really are no easy wins in Big 12 play.

TCU (11-16, 2-12 Big 12) kept it interesting and hung around with Iowa State (19-8, 8-6 Big 12) longer than most expected but Iowa State eventually walked away with a 92-83 victory at Hilton Coliseum on Saturday night.

Iowa State got big performances out of Georges Niang, Abdel Nader and Deonte Burton, who all scored more than 20 points in the win. Niang scored 27 points before fouling out, Nader poured in 24 points and Burton broke out for 23 points and 14 rebounds.

Junior point guard Monté Morris had a quiet night scoring the ball with only two points, but ran the offense well dishing out 11 assists.

Jameel McKay did not play against TCU. The senior warmed up, was in uniform and sat on the bench, but did not see any action during the game. An Iowa State spokesperson said it was a coaching decision and McKay is not suspended.

McKay was previously suspended indefinitely on Feb. 6 and missed two games before returning to the lineup for Iowa State’s last two games.

Check back with the Iowa State Daily for more information on McKay’s situation following the post-game press conference.
