Much like the Cyclones play last Friday in the Central States Collegiate Hockey League Tournament, the team was off to a quick start, scoring within the first minute of each game.

But the difference between this weekend and last was the Cyclones were able to hold onto their momentum throughout the entire game.

57 seconds into the first period, forward Tony Uglem netted his first of three goals for the night off a pass from forward Aaron Azevedo, sparking the momentum for the team.

Quickly after, at 4:31, Uglem hit the back of the net once again off an assist from Azevedo and forward Colton Kramer.

A little over a minute later the Cyclones struck again at 5:49, as forward Preston Blanek increased the lead to 3-0 over the Express with assists coming from forward Alex Grupe and senior defenseman Cory Sellers.

The scoring continued throughout the second period as Uglem accomplished getting the hat trick at 11:46 during a power play opportunity and defenseman Dalton Kaake increased the lead to 5-0 at the 12:44 mark.

The third period saw two more Cyclone goals. The first came at 11:00 by forward Drew Carlson and at 15:13 by senior forward Jake Bruhn.

The two teams will meet again Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena for the Cyclones Senior Night.
