Man waves gun near campus

ISU Police arrested an individual Wednesday who pointed a loaded handgun at several people in the area of Schilletter and University Village.

The incident took place at approximately 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, according to the press release from ISU Police. 

Jerome Elgin Guy Clinton, age 26 of Ames, was arrested following an investigation. 

Clinton was charged with three counts of assault, an aggravated misdemeanor; three counts of going armed with intent, a class D felony; three counts of first degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor; three counts of intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a class C felony; carrying weapons, an aggravated misdemeanor; and possession and control of a firearm by a felon, a class D felony, according to the press release.

The suspect had approached three individuals at Schilletter Village, pointed a loaded handgun at them and attempted to engage them in a fight. according to the press release. The suspect then fled the area. 

The press release stated ISU Police was contacted and located the suspect and the handgun nearby.
