Men’s Track distance runners pick up wins at the Big Four

Cassidy Miller )

Long distance running seems to be the men’s track team’s forte this season. Seniors Brian Llamas and Daniel Everett placed first and second in the one mile run at the Big Four Dual in Ames, Ia., while Freshman Nathan Rodriguez and Toby Hardwick took first and second in the 3000 Meter race. All three men are cross country runners for Iowa State, as well. The men went 3-0 against their fellow Iowa opponents: Drake, Iowa and UNI. This proves promising for the men’s team, as they made a promising start at the Penn State Relays on January 9th in Pennsylvania. Thomas Pollard ran unattached in the 3000 meter run, finishing second, only missing first by a little over a second. Brian Llamas took third in the Mile run at Penn State. Having a solid distance team will help the men’s team succeed at their next meet in Fayettville, Ark., for the Razorback Invitational. They run Friday and Saturday the 29th and 30th. The Razorbacks distance team took first place in their Arkansas Invitational mile and 1000 meters, giving Iowa State a run for their money in the distance department this next weekend.
