It took about an hour for No. 3 Texas to sweep Iowa State in Austin, Texas, in volleyball Oct. 3 with sets at 26-24, 25-17 and 25-17.

The loss put Iowa State at 9-5 overall ad 2-1 in the Big 12.

In the first set, Iowa State was down 10-3 and fought back to tie it 12-12. The team kept it close throughout most of the match, but Texas had the upper hand in the end to close it out at 26-24.

After losing confidence in a tight first set, Iowa State ceded control of the first and second sets to Texas. The Longhorns had 5-0 and 6-0 runs in the two sets and ended each match at 25-17.

Redshirt junior Morgan Kuhrt was the only hitter to reach double figures in kills with 11. Samara West also had a good performance with six kills and a .625 hitting percentage.

Texas beat Iowa State in kills, blocks, hitting percentage and assists. Iowa State only led Texas in one category: digs.

Iowa State will come home to Hilton Coliseum for one match at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 7. The Cyclones will take on the Kansas State Wildcats.
