It was a David vs Goliath matchup over the weekend when the Augustana Vikings paid a visit to the Ames/ISU Ice Arena. Unlike the biblical story, however, David was not victorious as Cyclone Hockey defeated Augustana 18-2 on Saturday night.

The game was never in doubt and wasn’t close after the first few minutes of the game. Aaron Azevedo scored the first goal just :45 into the game. Azevedo added another first period goal five minutes later on the Cyclones way to eight first period goals.

Cyclone Hockey had multiple players score goals but the team was headlined by a four goal game performance from senior Jake Bruhn.

Preston Blanek and Jon Severson added two goals each as well on the way to an offensive explosion.

The Vikings were kept off of the scoreboard for most of the series until they were able to find the back of the net twice near the end of the game on Saturday night. The Vikings are a Division II team with aspirations of moving up the the Division I level but have fallen to 0-14 on the season.

Next up for the No.5 Cyclones is Robert Morris for the last series of a six week home stand before hitting the road for the next four series.
