Last Tuesday Former Lakers basketball player Lamar Odom was found unconscious at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch South located in Pahrump, Nevada. Staff found him and immediately called 9-1-1.

Odom checked into the brothel the morning of Saturday, Oct. 10, and had been partying for days before he was found unconscious. Odom was taken to a local hospital and shortly after was airlifted to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas to be treated.

It is reported by Dennis Hof, the owner of the brothel, that Odom had been taking herbal Viagra and doing crack cocaine that weekend. He is said to have suffered a ischemic stroke, which is caused by a blood clot preventing blood from reaching the brain. He was in a coma until Friday, Oct. 16. There were no signs of him making a full recovery, but he is now doing well after emerging from the coma as reported by E! Online.

Odom has a history of substance abuse. In August 2013 he was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. After, he checked into a rehabilitation center and less than 24 hours later he checked out.

Since waking up from the coma Odom has been able to speak, communicate with hand signals, breathe on his own and even leave his hospital bed. His first words were to his wife, Khloé Kardashian.

Although Kardashian filed for a divorce in December 2013, she remains legally married to Odom. The two signed off on the divorce paperwork this past July.

The world thought the couple’s divorce was finalized, but the judge has not signed off on the divorce paperwork. This means that Kardashian could decide all of Odom’s medical decisions, whether he lives or dies, even though they have been separated for months. However, she has been by his side since his hospitalization. The couples divorce was scheduled to be finalized later this year, but as of Wednesday they have called off their divorce and are remaining married.

On Monday, Odom was discharged from the Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas and has since gone back to Los Angeles. He is making progress but will need rehab to gain back his day-to-day abilities. Additionally Odom is on dialysis due to kidney failure, but is showing signs of improvement.
