The ISU women’s golf team dropped one place in the standings in the third and final round of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship, finishing in third place.

On the last day of the tournament, held at the Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn., Iowa State dropped from 4-under-par to 5-over-par to move them back to third place. Sophomore Celia Barquin tied for fifth in the individual standings with an even score on the tournament, her seventh top-10 finish in her 13 career events.

Freshman Chayanit Wangmahaporn, who had climbed to fourth place at one point in yesterday’s round, didn’t play with the same sharpness in today’s round. She shot a 5-over-par third round that moved her to one stroke above par on the tournament and tied for seventh place. Parinda Phokan also finished in the top 10 with a score of 3-over-par.

Kent State won the tournament as the only below par team with a score at 5-under-par, Tennessee followed behind them in second with a score of 4-over.

Iowa State’s next tournament starts October 5th at the Windy City Collegiate Classic.
