Two individuals were sent to the hospital after an car accident Sunday night on Lincoln Way where they were thrown from a motorcycle.

Bradley, 42, and Zachary Freeman, 13, both from Grimes, were traveling east on Lincoln Way when they were hit at the intersection of Sheldon and Lincoln Way, said Jason Tuttle, investigations commander for Ames Police. Tuttle said Jesse Johnson, 19, from Nebraska, was traveling west on Lincoln when he tried to turn left onto Sheldon.

Bradley and Zachary were both thrown from their motorcycle. They were both taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center for their injuries Sunday night. They had both been released by Monday, hospital staff said.

Johnson was charged with failure to yield on a left turn, Tuttle said. Johnson’s Ford Contour had about $1,500 in damage. Freeman’s Harley Davidson motorcycle had about $3,000 in damage.

Tuttle said accidents on Lincoln Way are pretty common since it is the busiest road in Ames.
