The Cyclones got two much needed victories in their doubleheader against the Green Bay Phoenix. They had the bats going early, scoring almost at will throughout both games.

The Phoenix opened the scoring in the first with a Hailey Mohrfeld solo homerun with the first at bat of the game. After giving up the solo shot, ISU pitcher Stacy Roggentien tightened up her pitches and got the Cyclones out of an early jam in the first.

Aly Cappaert added the tying run with an RBI single and Lexi Slater added another single to make the score 2-1. Later in the inning, Kelsey McFarland hit her third grand slam of the season, giving the Cyclones a 6-1 lead.

In the top of the fourth, Mohrfeld hit a two-run RBI single to cut the deficit to 6-3. Roggentien would respond again for the Cyclones, blanking the Phoenix for the remainder of the game.

The Cyclones put up another big inning in the fifth that started with a Cathlin Bingham RBI double. They followed that up with a pair of back-to-back home runs from Cappaert and Slater that extended the lead to 10-3. The Cyclones would tack on another run in the sixth that would end the game early with an 11-3 ISU victory.

Game two proceeded in similar fashion, with the Phoenix scoring the initial run in the first with an Allie Taylor double to give them a 1-0 lead. The Cyclones responded quickly with a Slater sac fly in the bottom of the first to tie it at 1-1.

The Cyclones put together another huge inning in the second, starting with a Nychole Antillon RBI single to make it 2-1. They followed that up with a Sammie Hildreth two-run home run to extend the lead to 4-2. The Cyclones got even more help with a Bingham RBI single, and another Cappaert two-run shot giving the Cyclones a 7-1 lead.

The Phoenix responded in the fourth with an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-2. They would later score on an error to make it 7-3 Cyclones.

The Cyclones also put up some runs in the fourth, beginning with a Jordan Spendlove two-run single. Antillon would add another run on a single, extending the ISU lead to 10-3.

Spendlove would deliver the winning run with a walk-off RBI single to give the Cyclones their second 11-3 win of the day.

The Cyclones will be back in action this weekend with a home series against Texas Tech from May 1-3, with game one beginning at 4 p.m.
