Spring Break style: Transitional beachwear

Mackenzi Tjarks

Spring Break is all about being ready to go from a lazy beach day to shopping in a moment’s notice. There are many alternatives to athletic shorts and a T-shirt that can transition from the beach to a more formal setting.

Kimonos are lightweight and come in every color imaginable. Throw one over your bikini while at the beach. Toss a pair of shorts and tank top in your beach bag and add the kimono when headed out for a quick bite to eat.

Palazzo pants are also a lightweight option for the beach. Try pairing them with a crop top and strapped sandals when hitting up the local shops.

An alternative to palazzo pants is a maxi skirt. Use the same technique to style the skirt as you would palazzo pants for a dinner with family and friends.

Rompers are another great option for those who would rather throw on an outfit and go. There is not a lot of styling when it comes to rompers. They are an all-in-one outfit. Slip on a romper and head out the door.

All of these pieces are available at many stores, including Target, Gap and smaller boutiques around Ames.
