After nine days of holding their breath, ISU coach Bill Fennelly and the Iowa State women’s basketball team can collectively exhale a sigh of relief.

The Cyclones are going dancing.

It was revealed Monday on ESPN’s selection show that the NCAA tournament committee awarded Iowa State a No. 10 seed. The Cyclones will take on No. 7 seeded Dayton. The matchup is slated for 11 a.m. on Friday in Lexington, Ky. ESPN 2 will televise the game.

The Cyclones’ tournament resume was boosted by three top-10 victories as Iowa State swept Texas, who was ranked No. 3 and No. 8 at the time of those games, and also snagged a win against No. 3 Baylor on senior day.

If the Cyclones win, they will likely get No. 2 Kentucky. Also in ISU’s region is No. 1 overall seed Connecticut.

This will be the Cyclones’ ninth straight trip to the NCAA tournament.
