ISU linebacker Alton Meeks is no longer part of the football team and is seeking to transfer from Iowa State, a team spokesperson told the Daily.

Meeks, who would be a redshirt sophomore next season, revealed through a Twitter conversation that he would be transferring from Iowa State.

The 6-foot-3-inch, 244-pound Orlando, Fla. native won the middle linebacker job out of spring practice last season, but was shuffled around throughout the first weeks of the season before seeing limited playing time once the rotation was set.

Meeks redshirted his first season before starting two games in 2014, seeing action in 11 games and recording 12 tackles and forcing one fumble.
