The ISU gymnastics traveled to Penn State on Saturday, Feb. 28 to face Brockport State, Penn State, and Pennsylvania. With a score of 195.375, Iowa State defeated the score of Brockport State and Pennsylvania, but fell to Penn State’s score of 196.650.

The Cyclones struggled on the beam and uneven bars, but stuck great scores with the vault. Caitlin Brown and Micole O’Dell both matched their career highs on the vault, while Briana Ledesma, Alex Marasco, and Kelsey Paz all broke the previous career highs that they held. Marasco led the Cyclones in this event with a 9.900 on the vault.

The performance by Iowa State on the vault helped the Cyclones battle back in the other areas of struggle so that they could overcome all but one of the teams.

Iowa State will be competing for the Cy-Hawk series at 7 p.m. on Mar. 6 in Iowa City.
