By the Numbers: ISU volleyball prepares for NCAA tournament

The ISU volleyball team is headed to Champaign, Ill. for the opening round of the 2014 NCAA Championship tournament, where it will face Western Kentucky on Dec. 5.

Here’s a breakdown of the team’s postseason success under coach Christy Johnson-Lynch:

1: Time the Cyclones didn’t make the NCAA tournament. It was Johnson-Lynch’s first season at Iowa State, and the team finished the year 16-15.

1: Second-round loss, 2006.

2: First-round exits, 2010 and 2013 seasons.

2: Elite 8 appearances, 2008 and 2011.

3: Sweet 16 losses, 2007, 2009 and 2012.

13-8: Iowa State’s record in the NCAA tournament under Johnson-Lynch.
