Former Marquette sophomore Deonte Burton has committed to Iowa State, first reported by CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

The 6-foot-4-inch, 240-pound guard will be eligible to play in December of 2015, much like former teammate Jameel McKay’s situation at Iowa State this season.

Burton averaged 6.4 points in eight games this season on 47.2 percent shooting. He will have one and a half seasons of eligibility after sitting out for the second half of this season and the first half of next season.

Burton will be ISU coach Fred Hoiberg’s 13th transfer pick up since becoming head coach five seasons ago. Hoiberg has had success with transfers from Marquette, picking up Scott Christopherson and Jameel McKay from the program in recent years.
