The Lowdown

In its first game of the 2014-15 season outside of Hilton Coliseum, the ISU women’s basketball team defeated Wyoming 84-63 to open the 2014 St. Mary’s Thanksgiving Tournament in Moraga, Calif.

Iowa State (4-0, 0-0 Big 12) jumped ahead early, opening the game with a 14-0 run and not allowing Wyoming (2-2, 0-0 MWC) to score its first point for over four and a half minutes.

The Cyclones had standout performances across the board, but point guard Nikki Moody stole the show. The senior put up her first career triple-double, netting 14 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing 11 assists. It was the first triple-double by an ISU player since Alison Lacey’s against Iowa on Dec. 10, 2009.

X-Factor

Nikki Moody – The senior turned in an all-around performance, tallying the first triple-double for the ISU women’s basketball team in nearly five years. To go with her 14 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists, Moody also added a block and a steal while committing just one turnover in 35 minutes of play.
