British biologist Richard Dawkins to speak at Stephens Auditorium

British evolutionary biologist and secularist Richard Dawkins will lecture at Stephens Auditorium Nov. 17 at 8 p.m.

Dawkins is the Charles Simonyi Professor of the Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University. Dawkins first became known after the publication of his first book “The Selfish Gene” in 1976. Dawkins has published a total of 14 books including his latest, “Appetite for Wonder: The Making of a Scientist.” 

Dawkins is also well known for his support of secularism. He has written books such as “The God Delusion” and “The Blind Watchmaker,” as well as writing and appearing in the TV documentaries “Root of All Evil?” and “The Enemies of Reason” in 2006 and 2007.

The doors open at 7:15 p.m. Admission is free with a book signing to follow. The discussion will be moderated by Clark Wolf, director of the bioethics program.
