NFL: Week 9 recap

Passing

—Ben Roethlisberger threw for six touchdowns for the second consecutive week, setting an NFL mark. The 12 touchdown passes over the last two games broke the mark of 11 set by Tom Flores for Oakland in 1963. He also passed for 340 yards in a 43-23 win over Baltimore.

— Tom Brady won the shoot out against Peyton Manning by throwing for four touchdowns while leading New England past Denver 43-21. He was 33 of 53 for 333 yards. Peyton Manning threw for 438 yards and two touchdowns, but also had two passes intercepted in Denver’s 43-21 loss at New England.

— Brian Hoyer went 21 of 34 for a season-high 300 yards, two TDs and two interceptions in Cleveland’s 22-17 win over Tampa Bay.

— Ryan Tannehill threw for 288 yards and three scores and had a career-high passer rating of 125.6 when he called it a day after three quarters in Miami’s 37-0 rout of San Diego.

Rushing

— Jeremy Hill, backup RB for the Bengals, ran for a career-high 154 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including a 60-yarder in the fourth quarter that helped Cincinnati hold on for a 33-23 victory over Jacksonville.

— Matt Asiata rushed for three touchdowns in Minnesota’s 29-26 win over Washington. His three career games with three rushing TDs are the most of any undrafted player in his first three seasons in the common draft era since 1967.

— Alfred Morris rushed for two touchdowns and 92 yards in Washington’s 29-26 loss at Minnesota.

— LeSean McCoy, Eagles, rushed 23 times for 117 yards in Philadelphia’s 31-21 win at Houston.

— Denard Robinson the Jaguars new halfback ran for 94 yards and a score in Jacksonville’s 33-23 loss at Cincinnati.

Receiving

— Jeremy Maclin had 158 yards receiving and two touchdowns on six catches in Philadelphia’s 31-21 win at Houston.

— Emmanuel Sanders caught 10 passes for 151 yards. 

— Percy Harvin had 11 catches for 129 yards in New York’s 24-10 loss at Kansas City.

— Rob Gronkowski caught nine passes for 105 yards and a TD.

— Mike Evans had seven receptions for 124 yards and two TDs in Tampa Bay’s 22-17 loss at Cleveland.

— Allen Hurns made seven catches for 112 yards and two scores in Jacksonville’s 33-23 loss at Cincinnati.

— Antonio Brown caught 10 passes for 138 yards and a score in a 43-23 win over Baltimore. Rookie teammate Martavis Bryant grabbed two scoring receptions and has five touchdowns in three games.

MILESTONES

New England’s Tom Brady has 51,541 yards passing, surpassing John Elway (51,475) for the fifth-most in NFL history. In his 200th career regular-season start, Brady also earned his 155th victory, the most of any starting quarterback through his first 200 regular-season starts.

The Patriots’ Ron Gronkowski recorded his 50th TD catch in his 59th game, tying Randy Moss as the second-fastest players in NFL history to reach the milestone. Lance Alworth (54 games) is the only player to reach it in fewer games. 

Denver’s Peyton Manning has a touchdown pass in 47 consecutive games, tying him with Johnny Unitas for third-longest streak in NFL history.
