History was made for the ISU women’s golf team during the first round of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational.

By posting a seven-under-par round of 65, senior Chonlada Chayanun not only recorded her career-low round, but also the lowest round in program history.

Her record-setting performance bests Punpaka Phuntumabamrung’s old ISU record of 67 set in 2009 and her own previous low round of 69.

While her round made a mark on Iowa State’s record book and has her in a tie for the lead with Baylor’s Hayley Davis, it was also crucial in keeping her team in the hunt at the top of the leaderboard.

Her 65 was the team’s lone round of par or better en route to a three-over-par team total of 291.

With two rounds to go, Nevada-Las Vegas is in first place and is seven shots ahead of Iowa State, which is tied with Texas and Tulane in fourth place.

The second round will be held on Oct. 13 beginning at 8:15 a.m. CST from the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas. The third and final round will take place on Oct. 14.
