Cyclone Hockey swept by Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Sooners were too much for Cyclone Hockey to handle, as beat the Cyclones 3-2 and took the series 2-0 Oct. 4 at Blazers Ice Arena in Oklahoma City.

The Cyclones scored first just 7:27 minutes into the first period with an Eero Helanto goal. Iowa State was up 1-0 after the first period with 10 shots on goal compared to Oklahoma’s nine.

Oklahoma tied it 1-1 early in the second period. Shortly after, Jordan Greenberg scored on the power play for Oklahoma putting Iowa State down 2-1. The Cyclones gave up another goal and were down 3-1 after two periods.

Iowa State scored again in the third period with a Zack Johnson power play goal, but Oklahoma held on to beat Iowa State 3-2 and take the series.

Iowa State will return to the ice Oct. 5 against Central Oklahoma. The puck drops at 2 p.m.
