Preview of Des Moines Symphony: Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons

Laurel Feakes

The Des Moines Symphony will be presenting Masterworks 2: Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons at the Des Moines Civics Center on Oct. 25 and Oct. 26.

The Orchestra will go through the Four Seasons with Conductor Joseph Giunta, along with Avery Fisher Career Grant winner – Anne Akiko Meyers.  Akiko Meyers has been revered as a “master violinist” and plays with an immense passion.  The Des Moines Symphony is excited to bring Akiko Meyers back to the Orchestra for her third appearance.  She is a master in her field and will bring a world-class sound to the Des Moines audience.  She recently recorded a Four Seasons album. The Symphony recognizes how important the piece is to her as well.

The Orchestra will take the audience through the rumbles of summer as well as the dark and icy experience of winter.  Sophia Ahmad says, “It’s exciting, fleeting and ephemeral, and it can never be identically replicated again. The experience is imprinted on our memories for a lifetime and is one of live music’s unique features”. The performance is a must to hear live and demonstrates the range of the Des Moines Symphony.

Tickets are available through Ticketmaster and Des Moines Civics Center. The tickets are $15-$55. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 25 and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday Oct. 26.
