For the second time this season, ISU libero Caitlin Nolan has been named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

In Iowa State’s loss at No. 2 Texas Oct. 1, Nolan tallied a match-high 19 digs. Against West Virginia Saturday, Nolan had another strong showing with 25 digs.

Nolan sits at 238 digs through 45 sets played, ranking her first in the Big 12 and 15th in the country with 5.29 digs per set.

The ISU volleyball team has made a habit of earning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week award, this one being the Cyclones’ third of six given this year. The other Cyclone to capture the award this season was middle blocker Alexis Conaway in week three.

Since the award was first given out in 2007, Iowa State has won 38 times, with the next closest Big 12 school being Kansas with 12.

Nolan and the Cyclones return to action Wednesday to face the Kansas State Wildcats in Manhattan, Kan.
