Iowa State ekes out Oklahoma in major stat categories

Iowa State captured its second Big 12 victory of the season against Oklahoma on Oct. 12 in Hilton Coliseum to move to 9-6 on the year and 2-3 in the Big 12 Conference.

The Cyclones bested the Sooners 3-1, but, on five separate occasions, the match came within a point of heading to a fifth and deciding set.

The teams went back and forth, playing tight throughout the afternoon, but Iowa State was able to edge out Oklahoma in almost every major statistical category. That effort provided the boost needed to claim what was a must-win for the Cyclones.

Iowa State led the most prominent defensive stat by a slim margin, which helped keep rallies long as well as keep Oklahoma kill numbers and hitting percentages lower than Iowa State’s.
