Caitlin Nolan digs her new job as ISU libero
October 29, 2014
Junior libero Caitlin Nolan is the epicenter of the Iowa State defense.
ISU volleyball coach Christy Johnson-Lynch said that Nolan has a unique combination of elite passing and defensive skills that set her apart and make her one of the best liberos in the Big 12.
In Nolan’s first year as a starter at the libero position, she has displayed her array of talents and set records in the process.
Nolan broke the ISU record and tied the Big 12 record for digs in a match when she posted 43 digs against No. 18 Kansas on Oct. 22.
Nolan currently leads the Big 12 in digs per set at 5.72, a mark that is also good enough for fourth place in the entire country.
Nolan’s performance has been crucial to Iowa State’s success, especially in light of who she replaced. Kristen Hahn was one of the more accomplished players in ISU history and stepping in for her has provided unique challenges for Nolan.
