Special interest clubs provides for niche passions

Iowa State has more than 800 student clubs and organizations. These are a few special interest examples.
Closets Collide: A student group that organizes clothing swap events and promotes sustainability in fashion.
Cuffs: An educational and discussion group for people interested in safe, consensual alternative sexuality, such as BDSM, a variety of sexual practices involving role playing or restraint.
Free Company of Gamers: “Assists gamers in their activities and promotes opportunities for gaming whenever and wherever possible,” according to its description.
Game Development Club: A group of students explore the tools and techniques used in game development. Members can collaborate to create their own games.
Anime Appreciation Club: Each week, the club meets to view a few hours of anime and talk about the story and art.
Improv Club: No tryout or experience is needed to join the improv club. The group plays improv games similar to those found on the show “Whose Line is it Anyway?”
Rubik’s Cube Club: Members solve cubes from 2-by-2 to 12-by-12 units. They also travel to competitions and try out extreme cubing, such as underwater, with feet and one handed.
Lunabotics Club: The student organization designs and builds a lunar robot to compete in the annual NASA Lunabotics Mining Competition.
Origami Club: Any person of any experience level can attend meetings and learn basic folds of the Japanese art of paper folding.
Sneakerheads: Buy, sell and trade new or used sneakers. This is ideal for those who collect or for those who are interested in how shoes are made.
Gafer’s Guild: The group offers classes for the art of glassblowing. It performs demonstrations for the community and offers studio hours.
