Anna Garcia, freshman tennis player:

— Born in Reus, Spain, an hour outside of Barcelona

— Had a passion for playing soccer as a child

— Father played tennis as a kid and teenager and taught Garcia how to play

— Garcia started playing tennis at age 8 and has played championship tournaments since she was 9

— Had 22 offers in the United States

— Came to Iowa State because she can practice every day and compete in high level tournaments

— Majoring in genetics and wants to cure diseases around the world
