Eight things to know about new ISU men’s golf assistant coach Chad Keohane

Chad Keohane, the new assistant golf coach, joined Iowa State’s coaching staff.

1. Keohane — pronounced Co-hayne — was an instructor at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., from 2011-14 before coming to Iowa State.

2. In high school, Keohane also attended IMG as a student.

3. Keohane played his college golf at the University of Texas at El Paso and was a second-team all-conference USA selection after his freshman year in 2006.

4. Also while at UTEP, Keohane earned all-conference academic honors three times.

5. After his collegiate career, Keohane competed at the PGA Tour qualifying tournament, commonly known as Q School.

6. Failing to earn his PGA Tour card, Keohane competed on the Hooters Tour for two years, a tour equivalent to single-A or double-A minor league baseball.

7. Keohane will become Iowa State’s third assistant coach in four seasons, as well as the third during head coach Andrew Tank’s tenure, which began in 2010.

8. A native of Needham, Mass., Keohane is a devout fan of Boston’s professional sports.
