Baylor came into Jack Trice Stadium Sept. 27 and displayed some fireworks on offense. The Bears tallied up 601 total yards en route to a 49-28 victory against the Cyclones. Here are some other stories from around the Big 12 conference.

Weiss relieved of duties: Arguably the biggest story in the Big 12 coming out of the weekend is that Kansas decided to relieve head coach Charlie Weis of his duties after dropping a 23-0 home loss to Texas Sept. 27. Weis, who had previously coached at Notre Dame, was 6-22 through the first two-and-a-half seasons of his five-year contract. Clint Bowen, Kansas defensive coordinator, will serve as interim head coach.

Teams in the top 25: Baylor and Oklahoma, the two top teams in the Big 12, stayed at their national rankings of No. 4 and No. 7 respectively. But a few other Big 12 teams moved up after the weekend. After beating Texas Tech on Sept. 25, Oklahoma State moved up three spots to No. 21. Kansas State moved up two spots to No. 23 after beating University of Texas at El Paso. TCU is one of this week’s newcomers at No. 25.

TCU takes home Iron Skillet: In a 56-0 shellacking of Southern Methodist University, Texas Christian won the vaunted Iron Skillet, the trophy the two rivals play for every year. The series dates back to 1915 and TCU leads with a record of 47-40-7.
