Recognize stroke symptoms with easy acronym

If you think you are having a stroke, call 911 immediately. FAST is an easy to remember way to identify a stroke.
F — Face Drooping: Is one side of the face drooping or numb? Ask the person to smile. Is his or her smile uneven?
A — Arm Weakness: Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?
S — Speech Difficulty: Is speech slurred? Is the person unable to speak or difficult to understand? Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence, such as “The sky is blue.” Is the sentence repeated correctly?
T — Time To Call 911: If a person shows any of these symptoms, even if they go away, call 911 and get the person to the hospital immediately. Check the time so you’ll know when the symptoms started.
