Aaron Wimberly makes it on Hornung watch list

ISU running back Aaron Wimberly is one of 47 NCAA football players to be named to the Paul Hornung Award watch list, an award which is given annually to the most versatile player in college football. 

Wimberly, a 174-pound Iowa Western transfer, led the Cyclones in rushing yards last season, racking up 567 total rushing yards with a 4.0 yard per carry average. Wimberly was also able to find the end zone twice on the ground last season. 

The senior to be also showed skill in the receiving game, reeling in 18 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns. 

Staying true to the Hornung criteria of versatility, Wimberly handled six kick returns last season for 202 yards, including a return of 78 yards. On the season, Wimberly finished as the team leader in all-purpose yards with 980. 

Wimberly is one of five Big 12 football players to be named to the Hornung watch list, which is named after Paul Hornung, a member of the professional and collegiate halls of fame.
