The Team PrISUm solar car team built its 12th solar car since 1989. The car, named Phaeton, is being raced from Austin, Texas, to Minneapolis, Minn., in the American Solar Challenge cross country road race July 21 to 28. The team has spent the last two years planning, designing and building the new car for the race.

The race will come through Ames the afternoon of July 26. Each team will be required to stop at a checkpoint by Jack Trice Stadium for at least one hour.
