This morning Fred Hoiberg underwent an operation at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., to replace his pacemaker. The operation went as planned.

“The surgery performed this morning at the Mayo Clinic to replace my pacemaker was successful,” Hoiberg said in a statement.

Hoiberg said the plan is for him to be discharged this afternoon and then return to Ames.

In 2005, Hoiberg had surgery to fix a bulge in his aortic root where the artery meets the heart’s aortic valve. It was after that operation that he received a pacemaker.

“I want to thank my doctors and nurses at the Mayo Clinic, as well as everyone that has extended their well-wishes to me,” Hoiberg said. “Our family truly appreciates your support.”
